 Statue - Saigon Zoo and Botanical Garden was built on March 23 1864 and is one of the oldest zoos in the world (ranked 8th). Mr.Louis Pierre, who had worked in the botanical garden in Calcutta (India), was the first director on March 28 1865. On the stele of his statue write: 'A la mémoire de J.B.Louis PIERRE , botaniste Français né à St Andre (Ile de la reunion) le 23 Octobre 1833, mort à Paris le 30 Octobre 1905, Premier Directeur et organisateur du jardin botanique de Saigon (1865-1877)'
