Poznanski Mausoleum - Considered to be the largest Jewish tomb in the world, it belongs to Izrael Kalmanowicz Poznański (1833-1900), the greatest Jewish industrialist of Łódź and his family. Izrael Poznański was owner of a textile factory located in Łódź (containing a worker's estate, a hospital, a school and shops). The mausoleum was build between 1903-1905 and was meant to resemble a grave of a medieval knight, probably according to the project of A. Zeligson. It is made of grey granite and marble with Doric columns. The impressive mosaic in the dome, made by Andrea salvati's Venetian workshop, presents palms by the water and inscriptions in Hebrew. The mausoleum is surrounded by a granite fence.
