Mount Kilimanjaro, Tanzania (19-01-2009 - 15:44:53)
Kilimanjaro, Tanzania, AfricaKilimanjaro is an inactive stratovolcano in north-eastern Tanzania. It is the world's highest free standing, snow-covered equatorial mountain. With its three volcanic cones, Kibo, Mawenzi, and Shira, Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest peak in Africa (5,891.8 m - 19,330 ft).

The highest point on Kilimanjaro is Uhuru Peak, on the volcano Kibo, first reached by the Marangu army scout Yohanas Kinyala Lauwo, German Hans Meyer and Austrian Ludwig Purtscheller, on October 6, 1889. On top of Kibo is a 1.5 mile wide crater. While it is inactive, Kilimanjaro has fumaroles that emit gas in the crater on the main summit of Kibo. Two other peaks are also dormant volcanoes: Mawenzi (5,149 m - 16,890 ft), the third highest peak in Africa and Shira (3,962 m - 13,000 ft).

There are several routes by which to climb Mt Kilimanjaro, namely, Marangu, Rongai, Lemosho, Shira, Umbwe and Machame. Though the climb is technically very easy, the altitude and low temperature make this a difficult and dangerous trek. Climbing Kilimanjaro is a must-do challenge for almost every trekker and mountaineer in the world.

Kilimanjaro with its three volcanic cones, Kibo, Mawensi, and Shira and with its highest point: Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) on the volcano Kibo, in TanzaniaA few national parks lie in the Kilimanjaro area:

It includes the moorland and highland zones, Shira Plateau, Kibo and Mawenzi peaks. In addition, the Park has six corridors or rights of way through the Kilimanjaro Forest Reserve.
- Amboseli National Park, Kenya is on the northern side, in Kajiado District, Rift Valley Province. The park is 39,206 hectares (392 km2; 151 sq mi). The local people are mainly Maasai.
- Tsavo National Park, located near the village of Voi in the Taita District of Coast Province, Kenya. It lies to the East of Mount Kilimanjaro.
- Arusha National Park covers Mount Meru in the Arusha Region of north eastern Tanzania.

Prague, Czech Republic (13-10-2007 - 13:47:23)
Pedestrian bridge called Charles IV bridge and old town end of the King Charles bridge, Prague, Czech RepublicPrague (Czech: Praha) with 100 bell-towers, a real city of gold when seen from the sky. The historic centre of Prague is part of UNESCO's world heritage sites since 1992. Its official name is hlavní město Praha, meaning the Capital City of Prague. Kafka, Mozart and many others haunt its walls. Split in two by the River Vtlava, in central Bohemia (Czech: Čechy), it has been connected for centuries by the Charles bridge (Karlův most), which has just celebrated it's 650th anniversary. The emblem of the Czech capital, the castle of Prague (Pražský hrad), where the Czech kings, Holy Roman Emperors and presidents of Czechoslovakia and the Czech Republic have had their offices, has dominated the town centre for an entire millenium (the crown jewels of the Bohemian Kingdom (The jewels (korunovační klenoty), and the Crown of Saint Wenceslas of Bohemia (Svatováclavská koruna)) are kept here). The symbol of the kings of Bohemia, it's circular walls and the narrow streets which surround it create an atmosphere typical of the Middle Ages. Not to be missed, the square in the Old Town lined with private mansions with superb frontages, and the town-hall tower with its famous medieval astronomic clock or Prague Orloj (Czech: Pražský orloj). Strolling through the various neighbourhods, one then slips from Romanesque to Gothic art (Saint Guy Cathedral), from the Renaissance to Art Nouveau.
